i'm actually doing that. i've got a top level form and all the output is going to the top level form as well as the printer.
i got it to work correctly from the command window by defining a window off of the screen, activating the window,
issuing the type command and deactivating the window.
it's not the prettiest thing in the world but it looks like it will work for the time being.
