I'm new to Oracle. We upgraded to 8i recently and our users now frequently get ORA-03113 "End-of-file on communications channel" errors. There are 60-100 active simultaneous connections in a typical work day. The front-ends are Visual FoxPro 6.0 SP4 apps using remote views and SPT. We might go a day or so with no errors. Then in one 15-minute period, a handful of users will get 5-10 errors or more until things are back to normal. It's a different group of 2-4 users that experience the errors each time, but the symptoms are about the same.

I know more info than that's required to troubleshoot this, but I thought I'd mention the problem and see whether anyone was familiar with the specific error or had any ideas.

Users are on a 7.x client because of a fairly long list of bugs that our applications experience when upgrading them to the 8.1.6 client.
