I think that a great part is overlapping because the Developer and the Administrator want the same thing, get applications running well (and save) on SQL Server(s). But the point of view to the matter is different.
I used the 2 OnLine-Training CD's from MSPRESS and the 2 New Riders Fast Track MSCE SQL exam books and the most important 'book': The BOL (Book on-line)
With the every OLT, you get the readiness review book (and software) to see how you are standing.
