Anyone can give me some suggestions of what is going on?

I went into print preview, choose my menu and the drop down items are disabled. I use the mouse to click on one of them. Then I came out of the print preview. All the drop down menu items no longer fire when I select them (by mouse or keyboard). What can be the reason?

Any suggestion?
