I have a problem that I am not sure how to handle. I have written a Visual FoxPro program that updates a SQL Server database throughout the day. It runs continuously, starting when the stock market opens (9:30 AM), and stopping when the market closes (4:00 PM).

Since this is running unattended at a client's site, what is the best way to tell if the VFP program has crashed? I am thinking of using SQL Server Agent to handle this. Basically, I am hoping to create a job that will examine the latest record in a table. If the job finds that the record is outdated (say 15 minutes), I would like someone to be notified (namely, me!).

Is this the best way to do this?
