>So, whats the answer?

Evan's answers were what I gave for the manhole question. The "feet in New York City" question didn't have an answer. It was designed to accomplish two evaluations:
1. How does this guy deal with stress in front of a client.
2. How does this guy deal with analysis.
3. How creative is this guy?

So, a "failing" scenario might sound like this:

"How many feet are in New York City?"
"Uh, how the heck should I know?" or "Probably about a million." or "That's not a FoxPro question."

I can't remember exactly what I said, but it was something like. "I'd need to do some analysis to come up with that answer. Can I get back with you?" He answered, "Sure, but tell me what sorts of things you are going to do." Then, I told him I'd need to work with him to make sure I understood the question, do we mean people's feet? or square feet? or some other form of feet? He said he wanted people's feet. I told him I'd probably start with the NY city government and get a population count, perhaps tax returns since they indicate children. Then, I'd get with the local hospitals and see if they have statistics on the number of patients with only one foot, etc. etc. etc.

I was really on a roll. I got up and used the white board and started spec'ing out a project profile, waving my hands in the air, etc. The interviewer (also the business owner) finally said, "That should do it."
