Hi, Tom.

>Well stated and I agree. Hearing a person explain how they would solve a problem "under the stress of an interview" will give you a good example of how they react under pressure.

120% agreement here.

>One job interview I went to was interesting. The manager said: "Here is a computer, and I will leave you alone for 20 minutes. I want you to create a database, and a customer table with a form to access and display it. You may not use the wizard"! I never use wizards and 20 minutes later I had the job. I got hired on the spot.

Something simmilar that happened to me. We put and ad looking for web designers. We were looking for people with some basic level, not a lot of requirements. We received hundreds of resummes. Searchig trough them, I decided to discard the ones that didn't mentioned at least a personal web page (what less can you expect from a web designer?). I did the same for the ones that were horribly presented (we said "designers").

Finally I hired a gut that didn't send a normal resume, but a home-burned CD in a desk-jet printed envelope. The CD was a nice web site about him, the projects he had made, and some of his ideas about web interfase. His backgound experience compared with many of the other ones? None. But the guy sold what I wanted to buy.

>One thing about programming - if it is not fun go find a job somewhere else. Programming can be and should be fun.

I agree also. I couldn't come here every day and seat for 8/10 hours if this wouldn't be fun.
