>We are running Windows NT Server 4.0 for the Server OS and the workstations are running Win9X. Some workstations are Win95 and some are Win98. We log in with a user name, a password and a domain. We communicate over TCP/IP. It must be related to the networking client we are using (Client for Microsoft Networks). If I run Visual FoxPro 6 the SYS(0) returns the machine name and login user name as I would have liked from FPW. I think that's because VFP is 32-bit. I haven't learned VFP enough yet to port my application so I am trying to see what my options are with FPW.
Yes, it is definitively some problem with FPW.
My network is quite simmilar (NT Server 4 SP6), and in this machine (NT4), Sys(0) returns "MS3 # martin" from VFP but "MS3 # 255" ??? from FPW.
The problem is that trying to use a third party product to access user name can be complicated. Most libraries have now good support for VFP, and even when they still have older version for FPD/FPW, you can't be absolutely sure they will be run ok on newer OSes.
May be you can use a different approach?
Good luck.
