How's about 10 years in which the population doubled without any new generation capacity? What prevented California from creating new sources of power?

The Greens sued everyone and have now gotten what they want. It's really not an issue of deregulation as much as it's an issue of too much regulation. Personally I have no problem with a PUC (Public Utilities Commission) having oversight since power really is a hugely fundamental issue but to blame the current troubles on deregulation is not correct.

Oh.. And for those of use who live in other states.. Don't think you'll escape. Our prices have gone up since California's requirements have driven up the wholesale cost of power.

I say let's go dig for oil in Alaska, off the shores, fire up some nuclear plants, burn all the liberal books and deregulate the whole shooting match! <g>
