Yes, sometimes it is not convenient to use return Number in Valid event. However lostfocus can not work the way you wish (as far as I know). Instead it works until all it's commands implemented. You can check it yourself: remove when/valid clauses and insert wait wind messages before setfocus, after setfocus, and in setfocus itself. Then you will see the flow.
