Thanks for the update, Albert. Lots of useful information to save for the next FF installation. I've always found Bill and the other MMS gurus helpful. As for the client's swearing he "Hadn't touched XXX" well *I* have done that kind of swearing too. I think the PCDemon (a relative of Maxwell's Demon) occasionally resets this stuff just to watch us go bananas.

>Bill suggested that I check to see if the user had set an option in the fonts folder (which I never knew existed) that says something like "show only True Type fonts in programs". You get to this option via the Fonts folder, then View and Options/Folder Options (Win98) and then there is a "True Type" tab and on that screen the user can check off the above option. When they do so, the system hides all non-TT fonts from programs and when I tested it, AFONT() does indeed only return TT fonts. And since FoxFont is not TT, it was not in the list and hence FoxFire would not load because it needs it.

>Bill also said (for everyone's general edification) that it seems like AFONT() is flakey at times and that even after a program installs a font, it may not show up until a reboot is done.

>I got the user to check this setting and yes, indeed, they had checked off this option. They unchecked it, rebooted and were able to get into FoxFire. Of course, they swore up and down that they had not touched it....

>>Albert,
>>I'm sorry I don't have an answer (I've always found that installing FoxFont has solved this problem). Have you checked with Micromega Systems Tech Support about this?
