Kensington has a cable lock that attaches to a notebook. I've been using them for years. It's a long cable with a loop on one end and a lock that fits into that little hole in the back of most notebooks on the other end.

Of course, then you have to figure out what you're going to do with the key at the pool *s*.

These aren't a guarantee; really just helps dissuade the cleaning staff with "sticky fingers".

The biggest trick is to figure out where to loop the cable. Looping it around a $4 dresser door handle doesn't seem too secure to me. I usually look for a desk with a crossbar that can't be busted easily.

Failing that, I use the metal frame under the bed, or (in worst case) the plumbing pipes under the sink.
