>I will be toting around a laptop and digital camera at an upcoming conference. Where does everyone store their laptops at night? Leaving $3000+ in equip my hotel room seems kinda iffy.
I've only had a laptop walk off once, and it was my own damned fault - I left it in a banquet room after a hobby show I was the organizer of. I was the last one out the door & forgot it on a chair. By the time I realized it and called the hotel, it was long gone.
Most of the time I don't worry about securing them inside of the room. Maybe that's naive but I figure if someone REALLY wants it, they'll get it, cable lock or no. Occasionally the in-room safes will hold smaller laptops, but I haven't been too many places that have in-room safes.
