I'm doing a sophisticated search, where the user can type in keywords, as well as search for words phonetically. I'm using phdbase for this, which works very well.

I'd also like to do initial searches. For example, if the user types in "nyt" they'll get "New York Times". I also want them to be able to type "ny times".

I'm using phdbase, and I've been able to get it to work just OK using a UDF which strips out the first letter of each word, but it's really really slow to index (which is not too big a problem). For those who use phdbase, I'm putting a tag at the end, so I search for "nyt*_tag".

Does anyone have any other ways of doing this?

Thanks,

David
