Here's a quote from teh SUN Vrs. MS settlement

"There isn't really a clear winner or loser in this settlement," said Gartner Group analyst David Smith, "but when one company pays the other money, the payee has more of a legitimate claim to victory."

How much does this dumbass get paid? I could do this... he continues to say:

Smith noted that in the long term, developers will be the ultimate winner. "This is a cease-fire, but not peace," he said. "Microsoft has been feeling increasingly strong pain for not having a Java plan."

While .NET is kindof half baked, the least I'd call it is a plan. The plan is simple Terminate Java relations and compete with it, which happens to be what the article was about.

Here's another thing that kindof bugs me about the whole settlement:

"Microsoft will pay Sun $20 million and is permanently prohibited from using "Java compatible" trademarks on its products, according to Sun."

and

"Meanwhile, Sun and IBM will continue to release the newest versions of Java for Microsoft operating systems, Sun executives said."

Why should MS be banned from puting "Java Compatible" on its products, yet Sun is writing Java for an MS product? Sun looks like a whiner now.
