>>Remember, we live in a puritan culture run by right wing, knee jerk, religious fanatics. But as far as I'm concerned you can drink all you want. If you can take a bullet for god and country you sure as shit otta be able to have a beer and a shot of Crown Royal before you die.

>Seems like the right wing of this country says the country is run by left wing liberals who are atheists. Glad no one agrees as no one person has everything his/her way. I was 17 when I enlisted in the Air Force. Seeing a lot of drunk guys in the military under or over 21 is not a nice picture. Perhaps that is why we were segregated by rank. Enlisted men, non coms, and officers had their own Clubs. Most of the younger guys were enlisted men below the rank of nco. The Airman’s Club served “Green Beer” as it was called. The Airman went to the club to get drunk, sick and raise hell. The higher ranks acted with more maturity. For those foolish enough to want to drink it you would soon loose your stomach. Several of us that did not drink would clean up after the guys that drank to keep them out of trouble and keep our baracks in good shape or we would all have a problem. Should I paint a picture of cleaning vomit, excretion and urine?

>I remember many nights when my OIC (Squadron Commander – Officer In Charge) would call me from the Officers Club. “Tom, can you take me home”? A very drunk OIC would be driven to his on Base Housing , take off his shoes on the sidewalk and tip toe into his house at midnight – as if his wife did not know is was bombed.

>I have seen alcohol ruin many military and civilian lives. It is not a good picture and not one I would recommend to anyone.
