According to this statement in the original post, "use the same reports that already work well (some are very complicated)" it sounds like he meant that he would have to re-design/re-code/re-test some rather complicated reports (don't know how many), in addition to learning how to use Crystal Reports.

The alternate plan, changing the ADO recordset to a VFP cursor with one or two lines of code sounds pretty quick and uncomplicated. (I've never used ADO or Crystal, so I can't say for sure.)

Obviously, learning anything new is always worthwhile, but learning it "under the gun" or re-doing a lot of work that is already done may not be, and cost may be a factor.
