Now, if I understand you correctly, you are trying to figure out how to connect the scanner to a PC. (via the long cable.)

The easiest way is via a wedge. This is a device that sits between the keyboard and the PC and the scanner attaches to it. The neat thing about this is: any data scanned goes in as if it was keyed in.

There is also a software wedge out there, which uses a comm port on the PC.
