The tax rate here (in California) depends on the delivery location. A retail store can probably charge the same tax rate for everything that is taxable. If you do any mail order, then you must charge (and report) the tax by county. Also, a customer can have a resale number and not pay taxes on some things but pay on others depending on whether it will be resold. In fact, it is common to have the same customer buy some things for resale and some things not for resale during the same visit.
