I have some experience in VFP + MySQL. If you want to find some more info, contact me personally. Also, I'm considering to write an article and upload it to UT, because, with some exceptions, the MySQL can be considered a good and very fast SQL server.

On the other hand, it has some limitations and a weird ODBC driver. More info, privately (I use a dial-up connection).
