First step is to pop Task Manager and look at the running processes and memory allocations, to see what's gobbling up cycles and memory.
How's your networking set up - protocols and clients, is it a domain or a workgroup, and if it's sharing a link to the net, what type of gateway service - ICS, Proxy, NAT?
