There should be discounts for Canadian tourists, I believe.

>Bring plenty of money for the theme parks! I heard that they recently increase the prices to just over $50 per person for the day at some of the parks. I wanted to go to the then new Animal Kingdom and it was around $40 for the day. Now it is $48.

>>Hello Evan,
>>
>>I was in Orlando a couple years back for a DevCon. There is lot's to do there, the conference hotel is about 2 miles from 'Downtown Disney' which has shops, resturaunts (such as Planet Hollywood), and several nightclubs. If you are with family and/or like rides, magic kingdom is the place to go; however I liked Epcot area more, it has more science/future oriented attractions. Many of the rides are not the traditional type, but more virtual reality type. You can go to any of the parks and take the Monorail to the others, much better than driving. You should check out passes prior to leaving, discounts available at AAA, travel agencies or online at the Disney site. There is also Universal studios and several other attractions in the area but they all take lot's of time. Most things at disney are open late, If you plan to go in the evenings as well, get the multi-day pass, it will be cheaper. There is a shopping center about 2 miles away also.
>>
>>I suggest the hotel resturaunt (many hotels in the area, you can go to any) when you have just a couple of hours, one has dinner theater. Disney excursions are better left for larger blocks of time.
>>
>>I also suggest we plan a UT dinner, let me know what you think
>>
>>See you there

>>>I will be arriving Saturday morning (May 12th) in Orlando for Devcon and plan to spend the day sight seeing. I guess I have two questions.
>>>
>>>1) What is good to see in Orlando? Note, I have neither to been to Orlando nor Disney. Are the attractions open at night?
>>>
>>>2) What is realistic for getting away from the conference? As far as I can tell, I will have the following free time. Do you guys find you have the time or inclination to get away?
>>>
>>>Saturday 12th: All day... Disney?
>>>Sunday 13th: 4pm-7pm for dinner and/or a pub?
>>>Monday 14th: after 6PM ??
>>>Tuesday 15th: 5pm-7:30PM dinner?
>>>Wed 16th: after 4:30PM some theme park?
>>>Thur 17th: a few hours until plane leaves in the evening.
