You can spend a fortune on custom-made guns and though the Mark V is fairly expensive ( I believe around $600.00) you can spend a lot more. Then there's the scope issue. I have Nikon scopes because they are excellent in low light and don't cost like the Swarovsky or Leika scopes. Weatherby is an excellent firearm, even the Vangard models. I've taken both deer and elk with mine and never had a problem with them. They shoot as accurately today as they did when I bought them. I've had the .300 Win Mag since '76. Yeah I bought some 150 grain ammo off their site a couple of months ago.

I have a Leapold scope on my gun which I really like. I haven't killed anything with the gun yet as I have only been hunting with it two seasons and I'm not a very good hunter, but that's another story. Anyway the gun was originally my dad's and he has killed many deer with it. It's kind'uv a family hier loom in that his dad, who was rather poor, but an amazing carpenter, built a grandfather clock and traded it for the gun. He gave the gun to my dad as a present for graduating from college (my dad was the first ever in his family). Then my dad gave it to me when I graduated.

The guy who owned the gun originally told my grandfather a little history about the gun. Apparently the gun was made by a guy who was famouse for left handed bolt action rifles but the one I have is right handed. Anyway the guy who made the gun had kind'uv a two man operation he made the guns and another guy made the stocks. The stock on the gun is rather amazing. The grain is really swirely, and the stock goes the full lenght of the barrel. The story was confirmed several years later by a gun appraiser my dad ran into who appraised the gun at $1300-$1500. That was in the early 80's. One of these days I'll have to get it appraised again although I'll never sell it.
