Installation, Setup and Configuration
Hi Tom,
Well, I think the unfortunate thing is that Microsoft does not adequately document VFP. You would think that there would be at least one paragraph in the help section (MSDN), which provides steps on the proper methodology for installing multi-user applications. The locking/buffering and setup wizard are sufficiently covered, but there is nothing regarding how to install self-standing runtime applications on multiple computers (at least I couldn't find anything on it). Back in the FoxPro 2.xxx days, there was lots of detailed information available on just about every aspect of development and installation.
I know that with products such as Microsoft Access, there are detailed instructions. I never have a problem finding documentation with Access. There is plenty of documentation on how to successfully install multi-user apps. I love VFP, but I feel like I need to frequently conduct a major research project to find out what seems like very basic information.
