Sounds like the same guys running many .COM companies here in Silicon Valley. All is well until you run out of money. Then it is time for "second/third/fourth round funding". I hear lots of "deals" at Starbucks and the local British Pub near my house. Anouncements and business deals are made at Starbucks and the party at the Pub. This must be the "trendy" thing to do.
