I read this:

>I use a network printer myself from DOS on a Win2000 machine. From DOS I say NET USE LPT1: "\\admin\hplaserj" and then anything I direct to LPT1 comes out on the network printer.

(from Barbara Peisch in response to Dan Cummings who had the problem back in October. )

I'm new to Win2k. I've recently rebuilt my machine with dual boot options - primarily Win2k (for its greater stability and speed) but retained Win98 for those things that 2k refuses to handle; like printing from DOS!

I've tried the same thing and it keeps giving me "Network Error 67 - Network Name cannot be found" - even after I've manually connected to the damn thing in "My Network Places", set it as the default printer and printed (from anything but DOS) across the network. (Needless to say, I don't have this problem in 98 mode)

I've tried all combinations of case. I've tried inserting the workgroup name before the machine name etc etc.

I move about a lot but the target printer is always shared using Win 98 Network client. The networks are Novell 4.11, Novell 5.1 and sometimes just Windows peer to peer. (I get exactly the same error in all situations)

When I'm on a Novell net, I'm using the latest Novell client (4.8)

Are any of these facts known to produce "issues" ?

Does anyone have a fix, suggestion or comforting word?

Harry
