There is debate on both subjects. Some political leaders don't think murder is inherently bad. Take Idi Amin, Hitler, Kadafhi, Saddam Hussein, etc. They think it's perfectly ok, as long as they are dishing it out.

While drugs are, in-and-of-themselves, neither good nor bad, the recreational use/abuse of them is. Particularly when the user becomes either non-functional or detrimental to the rest of society. I'm an advocate of treatment, mandatory testing and rehab. However, I think there has to be a point where you say enough is enough. The abuser has to come to a point that they want to change before anything is going to happen.
