>>>At one time I had an app that ran on a Novell system. They wanted to be able to send popup messages to other users, and as I recall I just ran a dos command like 'net send' or something like that....anyway goodbye Novell, hello NT. So anyone know a way I can do the same thing with NT? Isn't there like something called winpopup or something? Anyone got any ideas on a fast/easy way to do this?

>>WinPopup is an interactive app - it's a chat that can broadcast or direct messages to specific stations/users, and it's built into Win9x; NT/2k have NET SEND which can send a one-liner to another station. You can start WinPopup before your app; Win9x stations can oinly receive messages if Winpopup is started; NT/2K display system memssages in message box style displays automagically.

It's part of the Win9x distribution as I rememeber; it's there on both my Win98 and ME boxes, at least. It may be a part of the resource kit.

BTW, it only applies to Win9x - you use NET SEND with NT/2K.
