Well, this is not a reply, but I want to fit this into a proper thread somehow. There's an old, er, feature :) of all of the previous versions of FoxPro. Try to issue Reindex without any tables open. You get a file selector, use a table and then it says "Table must be open exclusively" and fails. In VFP there is a checkbox for "use exclusively", but it's initially unchecked, and, besides, who ever looks at those little boxes?
