after reading your comments, i create a main.prg codes of which are:-
set talk off
do form first.scx
read events

in my first.scx - modaless mode, i have amongst other things, a command button codes of which are:-
thisform.release
clea events
clos all
use abc.dbf excl
pack
quit

when i click the command button, vfp remarks "selected table not found". i pack the abc.dbf to get rid of deleted records. where did i go wrong and please help. ta
