I tried returning false in the when method. It seems to work for the most part, but I could still get through to the interactivechange events if I click on the list and drag on the list. It seems it still allows focus to the object. I don't want access to any of the events or methods (like it is truely disabled).

I was still able to access the control's events if I click and hold the mouse down over the list. What is the best way to disable a list so you can still see the selected item?
