There are any number of vendors for barcode readers in the marketplace; Hallogram sells some integrated VFP barcoding solutions; Worthington Data Systems is a long standing player in the field. Try the advertising section of PC Magazine or PC World; they usually have several pages of people selling barcode devices in their classified ad sections.

Be aware that a decent wedge-style barcode reader is not going to be cheap; the ruggedized short-range laser guns with wedge interfaces and programmable support for multiple symbologies (types of barcodes; not all barcodes use the same coding or font, and the higher end readers that can support several formats are programmable devices) run in the $1,000 range. You can spend less money' wand-style contact readers are the least expensive.
