Still playing with it thru WSH, not getting anything back so far when I do this:

Set oXMLSrv = WScript.CreateObject("MSXML2.ServerXMLHTTP")
cPage = oXMLSrv.Open("GET", "http://www.xml101.com/examples/simple.xml", False)
WScript.Echo cPage

I'll VFPize once I get it to run from cscript....
