>>What a game last night. Just saw where the Illini moved into a No. 1 seed according to ESPN's figuring of the brackets. I'm not so sure that's good thing or not.

>Yeah, the game was a nail biter all the way to the end. You probably saw the replay on SportsCenter of Griffin's layup on the inbounds pass with under two seconds on the clock to take the win (if not, there's a link to the video clip on ESPN at
http://sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/mbasketball/index). It shouldn't have been that close, but give Wisconsin its due - they played a heck of a game, and on our own court, too. What has concerned me about the Illini all year is ball handling mistakes, particularly bad passes that end up being turnovers. It was sweet to see such a great inbounds pass last night for the winner.
Saw the replay this morning on SportsCenter. It was the featured game of the day and they did a good bit of analysis of it. Basically what they said was that WI came out with more intensity than the Illini, but that the Illini refused to give into it, and kept hanging around so that they put themselves in a position to win. Also they mentioned "Mr. Second Half In A Big Game" (Frank Williams< bg >) quite a bit.
>As for being the #1 seed, it may make you a target but heck, in the tournament everybody's a target as far as their opponent is concerned. I don't know that being #2 or #3 improves one's chances of reaching the Final Four. All I know is that I love this time of year, especially when your own team is playing as well as the Illini are now.
At tournament time the only numbers that matter are the ones they put up on the scoreboard.:-)
