I understand the issue of not having the user unduly bogged down by installation issues for new versions. However, I just don't think putting the code in the Load of a form has that much "bang for the buck". Having a few extra ActiveX control registry entries doesn't seem like that big a deal to me so I would still put the registration code at the beginning of the application.
But that's just me. There is no harm in doing it your way.
