I (thankfully) don't have to put up with comments like that, but if I did my response to such remarks would be quite reactive.
In fact, I think that it's quite a feeble comment to make, so what if it's old. Old is mature, experienced and stable. Basic has been out a lot longer and that's still going, so I think we can forget the "old" comments because that doesn't stick.
I bet you most clients etc. wouldn't recognise a VFP application if they saw one today.
What also annoys me is the fact that the word "foxpro" seems to immediately put people off, I try at all costs to refer it as VisFox or Visual FoxPro or VFP, because when you think about it, what if people called Visual Basic just BASIC, they don't and you can quite clearly see why - they are hiding the fact that at the end of day they are dealing with Basic - sounds quite "old" on it's own doesn't it.
In fact, I would probably respond to a comment with "What's wrong with FoxPro, it's better than using Basic!" then see how long it takes for them to realise you are talking about VB.
It's about time people realised that Fox is up there (if not, ahead) with all the other products and certainly should not be referred to as "old" when there are a lot older!
