>I had a conversation with my acquaintance, and when I mentioned, I work with VFP, she told: "Such an old product..." with obvious disrespect. I had the similar experience in the past too. Sometimes I even ashamed to admit I work with VFP. Do you know the reason of such attitude from outside of VFP world?
A lot of such attitude here on vfp comes from the use of older versions of FPD & FPW, and the early, buggy version of vfp3. Those were the last versions used by almost everyone here, and the only versions many are familiar with. So, that's what they think of when vfp is mentioned.
I think many bashing vfp haven't worked with vfp6 at all, and probably not even vfp5. Others - well, they have no fox experience at all, they just hear rumors and/or statements by various IT people like the Gartner Group.
It's pretty hard to bash vfp6 once you work with it a little, it's a darn well-made product. I would say the same about Powerbuilder - I personally was bashing it a lot at first, because all I'd seen were some rotten, buggy applications done with it. But once I had a machine with PB loaded to play with, I found it to be a decent product - bad apps can be made with any tool.
