Mark's answer is correct, of course, but you might also consider getting a report cursor which contains both parent and child data. If you have only one cursor being printed you don't need to worry about how your tables are selected, filtered and related. Although data from your parent table will be repeated multiple times the cursor is discarded at the end of the report so there aren't any update problems.
