I wrote a similar app. for a relative's small carpentry shop several years ago (FPD 2.5/6) and it was more complex than you may be allowing for. On the other hand there was a bit more to it, like taking from inventory on hand and cutting to orders for specific products.

I did find it most interesting and I think you will too.
