This questions is as much about source code control and version control as it is about changing the class library file.

I have an application that works very nicely. Now I want to make a major change to the functionality, but I want to be able to *easily* rollback to the working version if I have a problem. A form in the application makes extensive use of a class library called surveycls.vcx Now I want to make major changes to surveycls. I don't want to take a complete copy of my application, put it in another folder and then start changing surveycls. I want, instead,to make a copy of surveycls (I've seen posts on here on copying class library - but need some clarification), under a new name, then change the classloc entry in the scx.

So I need help in two areas: 1) copying the vcx 2) is it safe to change the scx. Do I have to worry about spaces, carriage returns etc. if I do itmanually ? would it be safe to, for example, replace all classloc with 'surveycls2' for classloc='surveycls' ?

TIA
