You don't need anything special to access Oracle other than ODBC. There's also an ADO provider, but I've never used it.

I go to the Oracle.* newsgroups for help with Oracle.

We've done integration with Oracle in the past by leaving tables of data in specified locations, and having their Oracle developers do periodic lookups of the data. Since real-time isn't critical, this may be the way to go.

>>
>>The only way to successfully access SAP data is thru SAP tools, so that you are using their data dictionary. They do offer a tool called 'BAPI' - Business API that allows for VB to work with SAP through ODBC. I never investigated to see if BAPI worked with VFP also.

>>>I have a prospective client who uses SAP throughout their organization. I know that at least their instance of SAP uses an Oracle backend. That's about all I know.
>>>
>>>Can I interact with that Oracle backend via ODBC? Will it matter what platform they're running on (I assume some Unix derivative)? Any substantial gotchas to be aware of? Any questions I should be asking them regarding their implementation? What about VFP 6 performance with SAP - is it fast?
>>>
>>>Any thoughts or experiences with SAP would be greatly appreciated. Their IT guys will probably invite me in and give me a grilling.
>>>
>>>Thanks in advance.
