Hi!
I guess it is by design. You can make control not read-only any time you want. What you will get than? Column's control source is what to display. Control's control source is what to edit or display in the current row. You can make them different, that is sometimes useful.
>I am using an expression as a controlsource for a read only grid. When I specify the controlsource expression at the column level, there is no problem. When I check the value at the text1 level, it shows the expression. However, if I attempt to change it, it complains that the controlsource can not evaluate to an expression. I have no problem changing it at the column level. Is this behaviour by design? What am I missing ? Should I not attempt to use an expression in a controlsource ?

The professional level of programmer could be determined by level of stupidity of his/her bugs
It is not appropriate to say that question is "foolish". There could be only foolish answers. Everybody passed period of time when knows nothing about something.
