Hi Walter,

>What about the following viewpoint. It's not in Microsofts interest to promote VFP. because it can hurt the sales of SQL-server, because when people want to upgrade their VB - JET/MSDE application, SQL-server maybe is the most logical step. My take on this is that unlike VB, VFP is a more specific tool (database) than VB, MS can't earn enough to justify the marketing of VFP.

Yes, that's the logic that most people attribute to this. Though I would like to see/hear MS itself state so - and what would be wrong with them doing so if so many people already accept that as THE reason?????
But a move from VB/MSDE or ACCESS using MSDE is a little more complex than that. I can drive a car, for instance, so I can easily drive in a grand prix is about the same kind of logic, as I see it.
Meanwhile there is a whole HUGE segment of the market called small-midsized businesses that can truly benefit from a VFP-type product. If only we got a little helpfrom MS.
Cheers,
Jim
