A developer working for my client has mostly completed a rewrite of the app in VFP5 using the CodeBook 6 framework. At the moment, ownership of this work is divided between the developer and my client.

However he will be available for consultation until this project is complete. My client would like me to take over this project and complete it so they can start to market it. They are open to straight pay for work, an equity position in the product, or some linear combination.

I would not ditch the framework. Codebook 6.0, although heavy, is a good product. VFE is also very heavy, and has some performance issues. Best thing to do is take over the project and continue. Rewriting from scratch just becuase you prefer one framework over another is a mistake and will udermine the clients confidence in you and end up costing them a lot of money. By the way, if I had my druthers, I'd write it in MM! <g>
