Basically, I think every links outside of the threading environment should be link as is. This is what it is when you surf the net. I wouldn't like to have an opened window to fire up whenever a click on a link. If I want that up, I right click and select open in a new window.

The difference in the threading environment is necessary because we don't want to loose our session. And, basically, whenever you click on a link from the threading environment, you want information from UT thus you probably don't want to loose your session.
