If I get momentarily distracted by one of the links on the main page, let that open a new browser, but leave my ut session intact. That way I can switch back to the UT window and continue with my log-in while the article loads on the other browser.

The ones on the main page are exactly the same as the ones you see when you're in the messaging sections, however, they behave differently: if you click on a banner on the main page, you are sent to the vendor's page in the same browser. If you click on the same banner in the messaging sections, you get a new browser. Splain Lucy, esplain! ;-)

Basically, I think every links outside of the threading environment should be link as is. This is what it is when you surf the net. I wouldn't like to have an opened window to fire up whenever a click on a link. If I want that up, I right click and select open in a new window.

The difference in the threading environment is necessary because we don't want to loose our session. And, basically, whenever you click on a link from the threading environment, you want information from UT thus you probably don't want to loose your session.
