>Some time yesterday, my FoxUser.DBF/FPT files (about 2mb total) got corrupted or something, because my environment stopped saving state (command window is always in the wrong place, etc). So I deleted them and quit VFP. Then I SET RESOURCE OFF, SET RESOURCE TO HOME()+"ENVIRON.DBF" and I get the error "cannot open file". So I tried SET RESOURCE OFF, SET RESOURCE ON and I get the same error.

When you go back into VFP it should create a new one automatically
You only need to bother with set resource off etc if you want to mess around with the resource file while you are in VFP
You say you deleted them then quit VFP? are you sure?
If you delete it outside of VFP then go back in all your problems should be solved.
Any other probs, check what it is set to under tools options.
