That would depend 100% on your needs. Of course there are translation layers like ODBC that can take, for example, VFP and use it with Oracle or SQL/S. Again, you need to size up your situation and see which product will fit your needs AND resources best. Also look at supporting the product after you have it installed and price of updates, etc.
