Hard Coded Printouts - non proportional fonts
My office has hundreds of printouts that have been hard coded back from Dbase IV up through Foxpro 6.0. We have always used an Epson printer or for the past 6-8 years a Kyocera Laser Printer which has Epson emulation. Because of departmental issues, we are being forced to switch to using HP printers which do not have the Epson emulation.
We are having problems with the proportional fonts in the HP Laserjets (5si, 4si and we are buying a new 8000). On the HP, our printouts with line counters and column width counters do not print properly. Depending upon what you print, some pages print 58 lines, some 56, some 60. Also, a line of W's in epson emulation may take 80 W's but on an HP Laserjet using proportional fonts, only 70 W's fit with the rest going to the next line thereby throwing off the printout.
Can anyone tell us how to get the HP printers to accepted our hard coded formating. Why I know there is no Epson emulation, is there something that can be set to accept non-proportional sized letters. Does it have something to do with the Personality setting of the printer.
Thanks
