Hi Rick,

I think you are making sourcesafe out to me more clever than it is. There really is no such thing as a "source safe server". There is just a physical location of the sourcesafe database. If you open your Sourcesafe explorer, goto Open SourceSafe database and select browse, you can go across your neighbourhood network to find the remote path that contains the database and the srcsafe.ini for that database. SS is wierd that it has a srcsafe.ini for each of the Databases. Even the different databases that reside on your own server should each have their own srcsafe.ini. If you look in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Sourcesafe\Databases you will see all the paths to the different srcsafe.ini's. I currently have two databases on my server and one on my employers which is 10miles away.

The problem is they changed the way they referenced databases from version 4 to 5. They used to recommend that you enter multiple databases in the same srcsafe.ini
e.g.
data_path (MyFirstDatabase) =
data_path (MySecondDatabase) =

This seems to be no longer the way they want us to do it now they want a srcsafe.ini for each database.

Good luck,
Darrel
