In light of recent VFP 7 Developments, this meeting ought to be quite enlightening.

The meeting will be at the Federal Reserve Bank Building in Dallas at 7pm, Thursday March 1st. Check our website at http://www.dfwfpug.org for a map if you're not familiar with the area. This is a highly secured building and finding it is not easy. If you are interested in attending, contact me via e-mail with a voice phone number so I can help you find the building.

Brian Moore from the Dallas Microsoft MPR office will give a technical overview of VS.NET and the new features in VFP7.

Here's the Agenda:

1. .NET Overview
2. Changes in VFP7.0

.NET Framework Overview

This session will introduce the architecture and technologies within the
.NET Framework. Brian will start by introducing .NET itself, then down in the
individual technologies that together form the .NET Framework. Technologies
covered include the .NET Framework itself, the Common Language Runtime,
ASP.NET and Web Forms, Windows Forms, and the various services offered by
the Framework, such as ADO.NET and rich XML support. Brian will also introduce
Web Services and SOAP support available in the Framework, as well as address
integration with COM and COM+ Services.

New Features in VFP 7.0

This portion of the presentation will deal with late breaking changes being implemented in VFP 7 since the beta. Although Brian is not a VFP programmer, he is getting information together from the FoxPro team at Microsoft.

Visual Studio .NET Beta 1 CD sets will be given out to all attendees. We will be raffling a complete set of Visual Studio 6 Enterprise Edition and some other cool Microsoft stuff, all courtesy of Microsoft.

This is a great chance to see what's coming from Microsoft later this year, and how you can best plan to move smoothly into the new tools.
